Oddebroen
By Miki Lindstrom
Enamal on paper, 2020
30 x 40 cm / 12 x 16 inches
Edition of 12

Odden is a very special place in my hometown Silkeborg, Denmark, It is a small wooded peninsula in the middle of our town. In 1951 my grandfather Aksel E. Madsen painted “Oddebroen” (The peninsula bridge) in watercolor. Aksel was born in one of the houses across the bridge on the left hand side. If you continue straight up the hill to the end of the road behind the small houses in the horizon of the painting you will get to the railroad. Here he worked as an electrician for more than 40 years. I believe my Grandfather was a very talented artist and I might have inherited my love for painting from him.

In May of 2020 life slowed down and I finally found time to paint my version(s) of Oddebroen.

I Consider these paintings collaborations between my grandfather and I.

Sacred Fruits
By Lizbeth and Miki Lindstrom
Enamal on paper, 2016
30 x 40 cm / 12 x 16 inches

These pieces were first drawn by Lizbeth in the sand during a beach trip on a beautiful summerday in 2014. Her idea was to create a painting combining a sacred heart and a pineapple. Our home and art studio at the time was built on land that was once pineapple fields. We love this amazing fruit and with these sacred pineapple paintings we hope to inspire people to stay happy and healthy.

The Pineapple is also used as an international symbol of hospitality.

APE
by Lizbeth and Miki Lindstrom.
Enamal on paper, 2020
30 x 40 cm / 12 x 16 inches
Edition of 12

In the following collaboration pieces we are playing with apes, colors and production.
Inspired by two of the heros or mid century Danish design.Toy maker Kai Bojesen and Architect and furniture designer Arne Jacobsen.
We were initially approached by a gallery owner in Miami with a great appreciation for Danish design and asked to create some art connected to Danish furniture design.
Lizbeth made the first sketches of Kai Bojesen’s ape chilling in the iconic Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen in her playful drawing style.
At the time I had been considering the idea of turning some of Lizbeth's abstract painting into re-productions created with stencil. I was in love with her drawings and saw the potential in producing a edition of small playful ape paintings.
I separated the colors into 4 different stencil and sprayed the pieces on sheet of paper thin wood we had been holding on to for a special project like this.
While working on the project the gallery owner who had commissioned the work went out of business and the project was set aside.
In 2020 I brought the stencils back out and conclude the project with two separate editions of 12 uniq paintings.
